President's Message
September 2026
Heidi Davis Knapik
Dear COG Members and Luncheon Guests,
It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I begin my year as President of Children’s Opportunity Group. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead this extraordinary organization and to work alongside 50 remarkable women who share a common commitment: improving the lives of children in Broward County.
As I thought about what makes COG so special, I kept coming back to one word — “Opportunity”. Opportunity is at the very heart of who we are. Through the funds raised at our annual luncheon, we have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of underserved children by providing grants to local nonprofit organizations that are working every day to improve children’s health, education, and welfare.
Additionally, I noticed another word hidden within Opportunity that beautifully captures the spirit of COG: “Unity”. Our strength comes from the unity of our members — 50 women, united by a shared purpose and a belief that, together, we can accomplish far more than any one of us could accomplish alone. That
same unity extends to our generous luncheon guests, sponsors, donors, community partners, and the organizations we support.
For more than 75 years, COG has been turning that unity into opportunity. Since our founding, we have contributed more than $2 million to local nonprofits and underserved organizations dedicated to serving children throughout Broward County. Last year, our members and supporters came together to raise the largest amount in COG’s history, surpassing our fundraising goal. What an incredible achievement! This
year, we hope to build on that momentum and raise even more.
On March 5, 2027, we will gather at the Harbor Beach Marriott on Fort Lauderdale Beach for our annual fundraising luncheon. It will be more than a luncheon. It will be an opportunity — an opportunity to come together, to celebrate what we can accomplish through unity, and, most importantly, to provide vital funding to organizations creating brighter futures for children in our community.
My goal for this year is simple: that we come together as one united COG community and raise as much as we possibly can for the children who need us most. Every dollar we raise represents possibility. It can become a resource, a program, an educational opportunity, a healthier future, or a helping hand for a child who might otherwise be left behind.
Thank you for being part of COG. I look forward to sharing this special year with all of you — and to seeing what we can accomplish when 50 women unite with one purpose and one powerful goal: creating opportunity for children.
With gratitude and excitement,
Heidi Davis Knapik
President
Children’s Opportunity Group
